The Florida State University Political Science Department is a participant in the University's Pathway of Excellence initiative for focused hiring. The Experimental Social Science cluster, awarded in a university-wide competition to the departments of Economics and Political Science, will add five faculty over three years, bolstering existing strengths in the two departments with the goal of establishing FSU as a center of excellence for experimental research and training in the social sciences. The Department of Political Science is currently seeking applicants to fill two positions, open with respect to rank, for this initiative. We encourage applications from scholars whose research applies experimental methods to study a number of substantive areas including, but not limited to, social dilemmas/collective action problems, committee decisions, political communication, voting and elections, bargaining, policy choice, political institutions and institutional design. Skills in formal theory are preferred, but not required; facility with advanced quantitative methods is expected. In addition to the usual research, teaching, and service duties, the candidate will aid in the development of the Experimental Social Science cluster. This will include developing and participating in interdisciplinary research groups, acquiring external funding, and assisting with the development and maintenance of the experimental social sciences research capabilities.
